Chemical peels are a non-invasive approach to treating acne or oily skin and work great in combination with other treatments and services. During treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin to exfoliate and remove the damaged outer layers, improving skin tone and texture and revealing smoother, healthier, rejuvenated skin.

Chemical Peel Treatment Overview

We offer many different kinds of chemical peels, from those with little to no social downtime to ones with 7 to 10 days of redness and peeling. At DermaHealth, we understand that every individual is unique. Prior to any procedure, a DermaHealth professional will meet with you to help create an effective treatment plan that accommodates your schedule, budget, and skincare needs.

We offer light, medium, and deep peels to address your unique skincare goals. In addition to diminishing signs of aging, chemical peels can help improve the appearance of many skin issues and conditions:

  • Acne scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Melasma
  • Certain scars

Types of Chemical Peels

Please note: DermaHealth requires a patch test at least 48 hours prior to receiving any chemical peel treatment.

Refresh by Epionce

Refresh by Epionce, a light peel, is designed for skin types I–V and is ideal for clients with sensitive skin. This treatment is commonly called a “lunchtime peel,” as it takes just a few minutes to apply and has little to no discomfort. You may, however, experience a pink undertone for a day or two. The malic and salicylic acids, along with willow bark and onion extracts, penetrate the skin for an intense anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect. This peel helps improve the effects of rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis, congested skin, dullness, rough texture, and sallowness.

Lactic Green Tea

Our lactic green tea peel is a light peel and progressive exfoliant that revitalizes, hydrates, and smoothes the skin. This treatment is ideal for sensitive, aging, and dry skin and typically shows no visible peeling. It contains melanin suppressants, as well as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) – including lactic, glycolic, and hydroxy acids – which help exfoliate the skin, increase absorption and reduce wrinkles. It is safe for skin types I–VI.

Glycolic

Our glycolic peel is a light peel excellent for smoothing skin, reducing pore-clogging debris (acne, milia, and oil), minimizing the appearance of superficial scars, refining texture, and evening surface pigmentation. It is safe for skin types I–VI.

Sali-e

Our Sali-e peel is a medium peel that rejuvenates and refines the skin by penetrating and cleaning pores. It helps improve acne; nonsensitive, mature, and oily skin; hyperpigmentation; and signs of aging without over-drying. This treatment typically shows no visible peeling. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid, which is especially effective for minimizing enlarged pores and treating acne-related issues. It is safe for skin types I–VI.  Read our Pre and Post care instructions for Sali-e and Mal-e:

Mal-e

Mal-e is a medium peel great for hyperpigmentation, aging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles. It effectively brightens and hydrates skin and helps improve mild acne. It is safe for skin types I–VI.  Read our Pre and Post care instructions for Sali-e and Mal-e:

Jessner

Jessner, a medium-depth peel, is great for rejuvenating and improving skin texture and reducing sun damage, melasma, hyperpigmentation, ingrown hairs, and fine lines. This chemical peel is also effective for treating acne. It is applied in one to seven layers, with five to seven days of redness and peeling. Jessner is safe for skin types I–IV.

The combination of lactic acid (used for exfoliation), salicylic acid (used for penetration), and resorcinol (used for treating acne) produce a more youthful appearance. Clients should expect several days of moderate peeling as it exfoliates the top layers of the epidermis. Depending on the client’s skin type and condition, Jessner can be completed in a three-package program, spaced six weeks apart or greater. The first peel is the deepest and most aggressive; the second and third peels target fine lines, wrinkles, and large pores to improve uneven skin texture and tones. There is much less peeling on the second and third peels if scheduled close together.  Read our Pre and Post care instructions and what to expect from Jessner Peel here:

Levulan

Levulan is considered a deep peel that is excellent for actinic keratosis and skin rejuvenation. This treatment consists of amino acid that is readily absorbed into rapidly growing, photo-damaged skin. Levulan’s ability to target abnormal and damaged skin cells without affecting the surrounding healthy skin cells makes it an effective and useful treatment for overall skin improvement.

Levulan is applied to the treatment area and left on the skin to “incubate” between one and four hours, depending on the location and size. The chemical is washed off, and a Blu-U light treatment, followed by an IPL laser treatment, is performed. It is typical for clients to have very red skin and sunburn-like symptoms, with redness lasting for five to seven days. The result is beautiful, softer, more youthful-looking skin. This peel is safe for skin types I–III.  Read our Pre and Post care instructions and what to expect from Levulan here:
