Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a treatment in which a needle is used to create micro-injuries on the surface of the skin, causing the body to produce collagen and elastin – two proteins that help keep skin looking firm, tight, young, and healthy. At DermaHealth, we use the Eclipse MicroPen to perform microneedling treatments.

Eclipse MicroPen Versus Traditional Dermal Rollers

Although both the Eclipse MicroPen and traditional dermal rollers aim to promote collagen and elastin production, there are additional benefits to treating skin with the MicroPen.

Automated Device

The Eclipse MicroPen is an automated microneedling device, whereas a traditional dermal microneedling instrument is manually rolled across the skin. Traditional dermal rollers penetrate the skin at an angle, which can cause larger tears in the skin and lead to more side effects and a longer recovery time. Because the MicroPen is an automated device, it has the ability to penetrate the skin vertically, leading to faster treatment sessions and more reliable, accurate results.

Safety & Precision

The Eclipse MicroPen has built-in safety and control features, which lead to consistent and predictable results. Because the MicroPen is smaller than a dermal roller, it can target smaller, harder-to-reach areas, including around the eyes, nose, and upper lip.

Customization

The Eclipse MicroPen can be adjusted according to each client’s unique skin needs and requirements. This feature allows those with sensitive skin or other skin conditions to safely undergo microneedling treatments.

Benefits of Microneedling

Through DermaHealth’s minimally invasive microneedling approach, the skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. It also creates microchannels, which allow topical gels, creams, and serums to absorb into the skin more efficiently, enhancing the effects in the deeper layers of the skin.

Microneedling may help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pores, acne scars, stretch marks, and traumatic scars; improve uneven skin tone and texture; promote hair growth; and reveal softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging.

Microneedling can be done on any area of the body. The sensation associated with the Eclipse MicroPen is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment more comfortable. The procedure lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. DermaHealth offers the following microneedling treatment options:

  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Platelet-rich plasma
  • Growth Factor

Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the pen position and the number of overlapping passes, but the average healing period is two to four days.
