Crow’s-feet are the deep wrinkles (rhytids) at the corners of our eyes. They are also known as smile lines or laugh lines. Crow’s-feet form from repeated facial muscle contraction – typically through squinting and smiling. These wrinkles can begin to develop as early as your mid-20s, though they can show up earlier in those who don’t take care of their skin, or later in those who do.
Crow’s-Feet Contributing Factors
Although typical facial movement is perhaps the biggest cause of crow’s-feet, there are other factors that contribute to the development of this wrinkle:
- Sleeping on Your Side – Habitually sleeping on your side can cause these wrinkles to occur.
- Sun Exposure – UV rays damage skin cells, making it difficult for the skin to maintain and produce collagen and elastin.
- Smoking – This habit causes wrinkles by damaging the collagen and elastin fibers and depriving the skin of blood flow and oxygen.
Crow’s-Feet Treatment
At DermaHealth, we offer a wide variety of crow’s-feet treatments, including injectables, lasers, and dermal fillers. We understand that each individual is unique, and we’ll work with you to find the best treatment to suit your needs.
Botox & Dysport
Dysport and Botox are inhibitors that stop the daily muscle movements that create expression lines. Botulinum toxin is used to weaken muscles and minimize dynamic lines. Both Dysport and Botox are injected directly into the muscle, affecting only lines caused by muscle contractions. Other common injection sites are frown lines, bunny lines, and forehead lines.
The first injection typically softens the wrinkle lines. By the second or third treatment, wrinkles are blended into the surface of the skin, resulting in a smoother, more natural appearance. They are NOT fillers that plump the lines – rather, they inhibit the muscle from responding to expression commands. Used properly, inhibitors reduce aging effects while still allowing normal facial movement, resulting in a more natural appearance. DermaHealth will customize this treatment to fit your needs and budget.
ThermiSmooth
Our ThermiSmooth laser treatment uses a specially designed, temperature-controlled device to gently heat the skin’s surface. The dermal heating effectively targets problem areas around the eyes, mouth, cheeks, and neck, stimulating collagen production. This non-invasive procedure has no downtime, and treatment plans range from three to six sessions.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are a non-surgical approach to shaping, contouring, and adding volume to the face, hands, and other areas prone to wrinkles. We offer a wide variety of dermal fillers and will help our clients find the right filler for their individual needs. Developed with safety and longevity in mind, dermal fillers offer superior versatility for both cosmetic and reconstructive treatment and are an ideal approach for those who want to minimize wrinkles without undergoing surgery.
